OUR MISSION

To promote the artistic development and visibility of local dance artists

To promote continual artistic growth for all artists through adjudication and feedback

To promote central Ohio dance artists to the wider community and outside professional adjudicators

To grow the audience for modern/contemporary dance in Columbus and the surrounding areas
Successful applicants will have their work presented in a fully-produced show at the Columbus Performing Arts Center's Van Fleet Theatre, located at 549 Franklin Ave, Columbus, OH 43215 on March 5 & 6, 2027. Choreographers will receive a digital video recording of their piece after production. All chosen choreographers will receive an honorarium for presenting. We strongly encourage dance makers from historically marginalized communities to apply.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be 18+ years of age and a resident of Ohio (temporary residence is acceptable).

Works must be 6 - 15 minutes in length.

Works must incorporate modern or contemporary dance style. Fusion works that incorporate modern dance style welcome.

Submitted works must be complete or a final draft. Significant changes to the work submitted may result in non-consideration for performance.

Online submissions with video links or downloads only. (No video-dance or dance-for-camera submissions will be considered at this time.) If the dancer(s) in the submission video will not be the ones performing, this must be outlined in the application with a list of the actual performers.

All performers must be 18+ years of age.

If selected, choreographer agrees to actively promote the showcase through all available means. This includes selling a minimum of 5 tickets to the show.

It is the responsibility of each choreographer to attain copyright permission for any recorded music or other copyrighted materials used in production. Choreographers must be prepared to provide evidence that they hold such permission if requested.

If selected, choreographer agrees to participate in an Artist Talkback session following both performances.

No more than two applications per choreographer.

Choreographers currently enrolled in dance degree programs are welcome to submit.

TECH INFO

Black box style space, black marley, seating is on both sides and in front of
performance space. Access to the stage is available from upstage R,
upstage L, and through aisles downstage R and downstage L -
36’ wide x 20’ deep

Dressing Room area available

All performers will have shared time to warm-up on stage prior to each show

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the performance space, we cannot
accommodate large set pieces or rigging that requires a fly system. -
Any additional tech needs such as projection must be provided and installed
by the artist in consultation with the tech crew.
